Essay Fish

Writing Assignment:
Oliver has a mid-life crisis and decides to get married to himself. What do you think Oliver discovers with his decision?  Was it a well taken decision?
Write an essay exposing your ideas and make reference to the reading segment if necessary. Your essay must have at least three paragraphs. This essay is for Monday.

Sometimes people arrive to a point in their lives where they find themselves living with ‘me, myself and I’. Friends around them had already settle down, have a family, drive a minivan; in other words, friends or family that had the whole ‘I am an adult’ package. Oliver felt lonely, he wanted a spouse. He wanted that special person who you can count on to be there for him, no matter what. Who better than himself? The idea of spending the rest of your life with your ‘half orange’ (or in many unfortunate cases ‘half lemon’) is what a person dreams their whole life. Since Oliver did not find that person at the top his life he decides to marry his other ‘half’ literally. He decided to marry himself.
Oliver must have discovered that there’s no better person to trust but yourself. Like Charlie Fish, Oliver must have find that even though he had close friends there is not better friend, or partner than you.  Charlie’s Fish says that his marriage with himself was great, beyond the tax benefits he encounters. He had a personal space for himself, no one there to bother; or invade his territory. He decided to marry the only person he qualified as “best for me”. Is not a selfish thought, actually he did what he considered best from him.
Just like Charlie Fish, Oliver discovers that it does not matter who you marry there will be ups and downs. Such as discussions, Charlie Fish let the readers know that he indeed discusses with himself, but the perks were that he always won.  Oliver, like Fish encounter the question: “Am I easy to live with?”. Both of them could find them true being, they encounter, discover what kind of person they were in a relationship.
Charlie Fish acknowledge that his life with himself was good, but when you found that special person your life is better. With that person you would not always win the discussions, nor be a hundred percent compatible. But that is what makes a relationship a relationship. Those little or those great differences. It what keeps the flame alive.
On the short relationship Oliver had with himself he discovers many things among those things he found something many search for years or their whole lives: who he truly was. He was a determined man who knows how to take the best decision from himself, even though it was a crazy idea like marrying himself. Oliver was able to be himself, he overcomes any criticism and pessimist thought. Oliver finds that relations are nor perfect no matter who you marry, the matrimony will always be a roller-coaster full of happy moments and not so full of happy moments.

To my judgment I do not disapproves what Charlie Fish did. It takes a great amount of courage and determination to walk into marriage. Even though is with yourself, he was able to discover what he was looking for. He discovers that in solitary moments there is no better person to understand you than yourself and also that when you love, find that person who loves you back your life will be great.
